Helen Maurene Cooper

Helen Maurene Cooper, 2021 was the recipient of two the Art is Essential Grant, through the PHDC Public ArtCommittee and the Knight Foundation for her current project, The Caregivers. Cooper’s 2017 monograph, Paint& Polish (Onomatopee, Eindhoven Netherlands), was accompanied by a solo exhibition in the Netherlands and was reviewed in Bust, New City, Nails Magazine, and in the Creators Vice Magazine. Cooper’s work has been included in numerous exhibitions both nationally and internationally. Some highlights include; The Halide Project ( Philadelphia), Soap Factory (Minneapolis), Space Mountain(Miami), Satellite Art Fair (Art Basel), Gaylord & Dorothy Donnelley Foundation (Chicago). Artists' talks have been given at, PS1, Queens, Elmhurst Art Museum, Elmhurst Illinois, The Arts Incubator at University of Chicago, Kansas City Art Institute, Georgia State, and Parsons. Talks will be given in 2022 at Swarthmore College, the Tyler School of Art, and the Library Company of Philadelphia.
