Emilio Maldondo

2022 Visual Artist Fellow

Emilio Maldonado is a Dominican-Puerto Rican artist living in Philadelphia.Received an MFA from Savannah college of Art and Design, A BFA from Escuela de Artes Plásticas de PuertoRico and an AAS from Escuela de Diseño Altos de Chavón in the Dominican Republic.Has been featured in group shows both locally and abroad including the Santo Domingo 23rd Modern ArtMuseum Biennial (2013), Saint Louis Fashion Week, Philly Fashion week, Vox Populi’s Make/Shift exhibition, aswell as multiple group and solo shows throughout Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico and the United States. Hehas been a resident artist at Elsewhere Residency in Greensboro, NC (2013) and Tiger Strikes Asteroid inPhiladelphia, PA (2020). In 2021, he was named part of the 2nd cohort of the Mural Arts grant for Philadelphiablack Artists and as one of the 20 emerging black artists to watch by the Philadelphia inquirer .He is also a member of Tiger Strikes Asteroid in Philadelphia, where he lives since 2017.
