Artist in Residence at Glen Foerd on the Delaware 2018
Application Deadline: May 4, 2018
Artists are invited to apply to become an Artist in Residence at Glen Foerd on the Delaware. Once selected, the Artist in Residence may choose any six month period between June 2018 and June 2019 to complete their residency. This opportunity offers area artists unprecedented access to Glen Foerd’s historic collections, buildings, and impressive grounds overlooking the Delaware River. This is an amazing opportunity for artists across mediums and especially targeted to artists that have an interest in historic collections, architecture, public engagement, Philadelphia history, and historic homes. Glen Foerd’s Artist in Residence Program is an opportunity for artists to pursue their artistic discipline and engage with the public while interacting with historic and natural elements of the estate. Outcomes are open-ended, but must include the creation of site specific artwork, interventions, or installations within the mansion that will be used to enhance the site’s historic tours. Topics for exploration are listed within the Program Requirements. Artists will have access to and are encouraged to engage with Glen Foerd's community partners, a process that will be facilitated by Glen Foerd’s staff. Each selected artist will receive a $1200 stipend for material costs.
