Artists selected for our Career Development Program (CDP) participate in a strong public
exhibitions schedule, a mentorship program, career counseling and numerous networking
and professional development opportunities, known as Direct Connections.
Exhibitions and Exposure Opportunities
Our exhibition series is one of the most important avenues for exposure for our
Career Development Program Fellows. Each year, fellows participate in several group
exhibitions around the region.
In addition to our gallery spaces at 1521 Locust Street and The Barclay,
we have exhibited at noteworthy venues including the Philadelphia Museum of Art,
the Delaware Center for the Contemporary Arts, the Philadelphia International Airport,
and the Maryland Institute College of Art. Each fellow also exhibits his or her
work in a 3-person Spotlight Exhibition in the second year of the fellowship. Artist
talks and collectors events also generate valuable exposure opportunities and contacts
for fellows in the program.
Mentorship
The mentoring program links CDP fellows with members of our Board of
Artistic Advisors and others in the art community for one-on-one discussions, allowing
the artists to get specific feedback and advice from someone who has “made it” in
the art world.
Career Counseling
During the fellowship, a professional with expertise in career counseling meets with artists
in the Career Development Program to map out personal and professional goals and
track their progress.
Direct Connections
The Direct Connections program connects fellows with members of our Board of Artistic
Advisors, curators, gallerists, museum administrators and others active in the art
community. These experts come to CFEVA to meet in an informal, intimate setting
with the artists in our Career Development Program. Direct Connections allow the
fellows to get information on topics specifically relevant to their needs.
Call For Artists
For the Career Development Program Fellowship, CFEVA seeks talented visual artists
who live within a 100-mile radius of Philadelphia
and are committed to a professional career in the arts. To be eligible, applicants
must not have commercial gallery representation and may not be full-time students.
Our annual deadline for applications is October 1st.
More information about this program can be found in the
application section.
